SERVICES & PROGRAMS

SENIORS PROGRAM

This program is designed for the senior members of our community, providing Individual and Community Support to those in need of a service.  The Senior’s Program also has a broad focus on activity and socialisation.  Centre-based activities include line dancing, gentle exercise and a social lunch.  Guest speakers are invited to speak on issues, services and topics relevant to older people.  Personal support, advocacy, referral and information dissemination to older people forms an integral part of this service.

The Safe and Confident Living stream of this Program serves socially-isolated people in the community who, because of their advanced age or infirmity, perception or experience of crime and home invasion, are living a reduced quality of life. If you want to know more, please call the Seniors Support Worker on 4055 6440.

COMMUNITY GARDEN

The Community Gardening Group has cultivated an astonishing number of fruit trees, herbs and vegetables! Raised garden beds make cultivation easier and members share the produce and contribute to the Centres’ programs. The group meets regularly to work together and to plan, discuss and visualise how the garden will evolve. The space is great, the people are friendly & committed and the rewards are enormous!

COMMUNITY SUPPORT AND INFORMATION PROGRAM

Individualised support is offered at no cost, with information and referral when required. Community information about social, recreational, welfare and educational services and assistance with Government services and community-based agencies is also available.

The Centre receives funding from the Department of Employment, Small Business and Training’s ‘Skilling Queenslanders for Work’ Initiative to assist eligible Queenslanders to develop skills, gain qualifications and provide direct assistance to enter and stay in the workforce. We collaborate with approved Registered Training Organisations (RTO) who deliver the accredited training.

The program focuses on supporting people who have experienced educational and employment barriers including  young people, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people with disability, mature-age job seekers, women re-entering the workforce and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

For eligibility and enrolment information please contact the Centre.
